The upcoming Flora & Fauna show at Shellpoint.
This is my tree frog featuring Highwater Raku clay.
This piece can hang on the wall as well as chill out on a table. I did extensive test tiles to achieve the proper green. I ended up using Amaco Chartreuse underglaze and then putting two coats of Coyote Crazed Copper over it. The white is Coyote Alabaster Satin, I added Licorice for the black stripes.
My big fear was that there would be some weirdo bubbles or flaking with the underglazes, so I ran about 15 tests tiles to ensure a good outcome. Underglazes are famous for their bad behavior so if you have something special, it is wise to test them.

I am excited to announce this collaboration of several 2D and 3D artists
I only have eight pieces in this show but I am thrilled to be a part of it!

I employed the Texas two step method to produce those lovely amphibious looking oil spots.
Two coats of Licorice under two coats of sea mist.

In this scenario, I wanted him to match the Wolverine piece but I wanted it to be distinctly different as well.
I decided to go with Amaco Shino, but in a different shade.

3x Lustrous Jade PC46 interior.
Another view of the Wolverine of the Animales series.
Glaze notes:
3x Amaco Açaí Matte SH 22 exterior.
3x Satin Oribe PC15 interior
I have moved on from Viking sailor mugs, to a new series I have named “Animales”.
This is Wolverine.
I decided to go with a simple glaze plan and let the details shine through.
3x Amaco Açaí Matte SH 22 exterior.
3x Satin Oribe PC15 interior
Another test. This time I wanted to find out more about mocha diffusion.
I applied a half dip into my STA (stick to anything slip) recipe is on the web, to a bone dry mug.
Then, holding the mug upside-down, I dripped a mixture of mason stain and vinegar on the wet slip.
It made these interesting marks, which I like, but wish I had better control of.
Once it dried again, I fired it to bisque and glazed.
Here are the glaze application notes for this piece:
3x Art Deco Green Interior
3x Ancient Copper Exterior
2x Clear Satin HF12 on the diffusion marks.
Even with the lighter application, and a 20 minute hold, the matte clear developed a bit of cloudiness.
The detail was a softened as well.
If anyone has thoughts about how get matte mid-fire clear, crystal clear, I would love to hear it.
This was a test mug. I wanted to know how sgraffito would work with slips colored with mason stains.
I liked the effect, but wanted a bit more punch so I added some Amaco Celadons into the mix.
Here are the glaze application notes:
3x Frosted Melon PC49 on the interior
3x Cherry Blossom C50 on the top half exterior
3x Marigold C60 on the bottom exterior and handle.
The whole mashup feels very Easter to me.
The newest member of my Viking Rune Mug series. The cross symbolizes partnership and cooperation.
This pieces features potters choice glazes. The application was as follows:
3x Seaweed on the exterior
3x Oatmeal on the interior
1x Oatmeal on exterior rime
3x Ancient Jasper
